At NannySoft, we believe that parents have both a right and a responsibility to keep their kids safe. Part of keeping that responsibility is knowing what their kids are doing.
The internet is a marvelous thing, capable of bringing worlds of information to children in ways that did not exist before. They can learn about other cultures, watch science experiments in safety, cruise throughout the galaxy and explore their universe in incredible detail. But as with any powerful technology, there is the strong potential for it's misuse also.
The internet provides a false sense of anonymity and privacy that children often do not understand is both illusory and potentially dangerous. Because of this, we feel strongly that parents should be able to keep track of what their kids are doing online, and so we provide tools to help them do that. Just like seeing the police officer in the rear view mirror will cause even law abiding citizens to be more careful about obeying speed limits, knowing that parents are monitoring their actions provides a strong deterrent for kids to keep them out of trouble in the first place.
At NannySoft, we don't believe that being a parent violates your child's rights in any way. We believe that knowledge is power, and that parents have the right to know, and the responsibility to use that knowledge, and their own judgment, to decide what is appropriate or not for their own children. So we design software that simply allows parents to stay informed.
